The castle of Angers was commissioned by the French king Louis IX (better know under the name of Saint Louis ) It was a formidable fortress with its 17 towers made of schist and limestone ! Those fortifications stretch for almost 500 m ! The castle of ANgers houses the famous tapestry of the Apocalyse ; it was woven during the 14th C. It is the oldest medieval tapestry in France !
