Take a private guided tour of the Château of Chantilly, a delightful full or half day trip from Paris
For lovers of architecture, a full or half day trip from Paris to the Château of Chantilly is a must. "Le petit château" was commissioned during the 16th century by Anne de Montmorency, a powerful Renaissance nobleman and close friend of the royal family.
The new château, which you will visit on your private guided tour, was constructed in the 18th century and renovated by the architect Daumet, during the 19th century, for the Duke of Aumale, 5th son of King Louis-Philippe.
Nowadays it is home to a wonderful collection of paintings, considered second only to those of the Louvre museum, furniture and objets d'art.

After a private guided tour of the château, stroll with your guide through the park, designed by landscape gardener André Le Nôtre. Visit, too, the Hameau, where the celebrated Chantilly whipped cream was reputedly invented and which also inspired the construction of Marie-Antoinette's Hameau at Versailles.
The 18th century Great Stables, built for the 7th prince of Condé, can accommodate 240 horses and 150 dogs. It is complemented by the Museum of the Horse, inaugurated in June 2013.
The half-day tour to Chantilly can be easily combined with the medieval city of Senlis or the Château of Pierrefonds to create a full day trip from Paris.
